“Generalization and half-truths” took over Baranagar’s Sayan Bag’s life, when he was unable to land a job after completing graduation. Neighbours, relatives and friends – all kept him at an arm’s length, so he didn’t come over requesting for a job or financial resources. “Feeling pathetic everyday became the norm,” he recalls, “but nobody helped.”
Sayan’s parents, both senior citizens, prayed and counted days for him to become employed. His father had retired, and the family depended on some meagre amount from his pension to get by. A dire situation for Sayan followed, since “I had to keep watching as I was unable to buy them even life-saving medicines.”
“Nobody knew the reality but I,” Sayan reveals. Appearing in “countless interviews,” didn’t bear fruit. “Traditional education held little importance there,” he reveals, explaining how his interviewers grind him to look for new-age employable skills that he didn’t possess. “My hopes were shattered in a thousand pieces,” he reveals, “every time I received a rejection letter.”
Difficulties and adversities kept mounting at home, but a valiant Sayan’s remarkable traits didn’t lose out. He found out about Anudip and enrolled at his nearest skill development center, learning employable skills like, HTML, Javascript, Adobe Photoshop, Bootstrap and others,” turning around his life in the process.
Assisted by Anudip’s Corporate Placement Cell, Sayan successfully cracked his next interview with one of India’s biggest corporate firms. “Capgemini came calling,” he recalls, “And I answered willingly!”
Sayan is presently working at Capgemini as part of the Service Desk team since a year, earning a respectable monthly salary of INR 20,834. Recently receiving his Letter of Appreciation from his employer, “was one of the memorable gifts I have given my mother,” he says.
Sayan has turned a new page in his life’s book. “Looking forward to making investments and big decisions that will change the lives of my family,” he smiles.
