• NEVER LOOK BACK

Blog by Brahma Sankar Das, Assistant Manager – Regional Training In-Charge, Anudip Odisha.

This is my second blog and I hope you will like it as well as the first. I believe this piece will inspire and motivate you to contribute your best towards this developmental journey of our esteemed organization “Anudip Foundation for Social Welfare.”

It was 12th May, 2013. I received a call from the human resource department of Anudip for a job opportunity as a Soft-Skill trainer and the vacancy was for Odisha. Prior to that I was associated with ITeS industry for more than 7 years in different leadership roles. It was a tough decision for me to switch as at that point of time the nonprofit industry was new to me. I hesitated because I was thinking perhaps I might be taking a step back as far as my professional growth is concerned. However, I am always enthusiastic in the field of training, coaching and mentoring, and also English has always fascinated me. So it looked like a one-time opportunity and I accepted with lots of anticipation. After going through two interview rounds I was selected to join Anudip. That was the time when Anudip was ramping up in Odisha state after successfully operating in West Bengal. Hence I could foresee the growth of the organization and decided to contribute my extreme.

Today, after five fruitful years at Anudip in Odisha, I realize that my assumption was not wrong. We all have witnessed growth in all the domains of improving processes, policies, infrastructure, management, quality of training, meeting targeted numbers and also personal, professional growth. I have personally been part of taking classes under asbestos roofs with blackboards and chalks in the past to delivering training now under well-furnished classrooms with projectors, whiteboards, markers, 24 hours power supply, and also sometimes in classes with air conditioning. In order to thrive competitively with other market leaders, our organization has put forward its best efforts and policies for its manpower. Ultimately we are going to be a leading skill development organization leaving the competition behind. That is the reason we could see the evolution from classroom to blended to virtual learning in our daily operations. Today, I cannot believe the transformational journey of providing MAST to IMPOWER to DIYA programs  to become a leading SKILL and CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTRE in the state. In all this, we should be proud of the fact that the organization has not only grown, it has also provided learning and development opportunities to all its employees and our colleagues for which today some of us can be pillars while others follow and aspire to become leaders in this exceptional journey.

This is not all. At the end of the day we feel satisfied of the fact that we are building careers for the underprivileged by providing livelihood opportunities to our students. As on today, I realize that my decision was not wrong. It has been a wonderful journey so far and it will be in the upcoming days I believe. Looking at the scenarios and strategies I think you will agree with me.

Summarizing, I can get two very important learnings:

Never look back in the past. Just go ahead and do your best keeping the organizational interest in consideration. Only if we can learn something from the past, then we should take the time to reevaluate and plan things accordingly.

It is not always wrong to step back in our life. However If we are stepping back, we should be more focused toward putting further steps forward with determination and willpower.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
