“I felt the weight of the world bearing down on me,” said Yogesh from the dusty lanes of Malkapuram in Visakhapatnam who was playing the never-ending game of hide and seek with job opportunities after graduating. “There is the weight of my dreams on one side and my father’s struggling business on the other,” said the son of a tireless artisan of a small local printing press. “I was caught amidst the crossroads of “what’s next?” and the maze of “how?” iterates ,the career aspirant as he was struggling to subtle the pressure of his father’s struggling business making barely 7000 a month.

“The system just doesn’t work if you are a part of the class where you barely make enough money to get by.” said Yogesh who ended up “unemployed” even after sending out close to 200 applications a day and going to several interviews. Soon the first generation student realized that the lack of technical skills were stopping him from getting selected for jobs “across the skill spectrum”.  The persistence to balance earning with improving skills and employability led the unwavering spirit to join Anudip for applying for Accounting and Tally specialization. Yogesh’s friends were surprised at how a mere first generation commerce graduate was now well versed with “the new-age skills of Accounting Fundamentals ,Principles of Taxation,GST and the eloquence of Workplace English.”

“His voice cracked with pride” said Yogesh who remembered calling up his dad immediately to tell him about the job offer of “Assistant Accountant”  from Larsen & Toubro. “Life’s unpredictable!” concluded Yogesh who was once told that payoff is tougher to achieve for first generation students like him is earning much more than his better-connected classmates.
