Impact Story
Pinki’s journey to become an independent young woman was rife with challenges. Pinki aged 24, is no ordinary girl. She had big dreams of becoming an independent young lady one day. She resides in Kotwali, Jalpaiguri district with her parents Her father is a mason who works day and night to put food on the table, while his mother is a homemaker, engaged in doing household chores. Pinki’s father Jiban Das earns a meagre income of Rs 4,000 per month finding it difficult to make both ends meet.
Captive to rather orthodox community, she spent most of her life listening to dire warning from her parents and neighbours who believed that a girl belonged at home and should be married off at a tender age. Fortunately, Pinki was her own person and was determined to make a life for herself. One day Pinki came to know about Anudip skills training program to empower youth with unique and personalised learning opportunities through a mobilization drive and attended a free demo class which highly interested her. Inspired by hope, Pinki made her way to the nearest Anudip training centre at Jalpaiguri and enrolled in Certificate in Office Automation and Digital Education (CODE) course where she was honed in soft skills, workplace readiness and workplace English skills as well as digital and financial literacy. Soon after the course completion Pinki got selected at Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital as a ward girl earning a monthly salary of Rs.9000/month.
A smiling Pinki remarks “I was able to make something of myself after joining the programme. I now support myself and my parents as well. I am thankful to Anudip faculty especially Shuvajit sir who has supported me throughout and helped me achieve that heights where I wanted to reach and would surely recommend it to my friends. I have a long way to go before I achieve my dreams, but I know I will”.
