  • ANUDIP CEO CONFERRED THE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AWARD FROM IIT KHARAGPUR

    Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP), one of the most prestigious engineering and technology institutions of the world commenced its 63rd convocation on August 5th and 6th 2017.  On August 6th, the Institute awarded  over 2,900 students of MTech, MSc,  PhD and other graduate degrees.  On the same day IIT KGP announced the recipients of the year’s Distinguished Alumnus Award, recognizing fourteen eminent scholars across the globe including illustrious academicians, executives, scientists, entrepreneurs, civil servants, journalists and novelists, who having graduated from the institute have distinguished themselves through their extraordinary achievements in their chosen professions and reached the pinnacle of excellence.

    Dipak Basu, CEO, Anudip Foundation, holder of a BSc Honors in Physics in 1968 and BTech  in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1971 from IIT KGP, was conferred the Distinguished Alumnus 2017 for his unique endeavor in employing technology to empower and engage marginalized  communities worldwide. Among the other notable awardees present in the occasion were Chief Editor of The Indian Express, Raj Kamal Jha; Director of Indian Statistical Institute, Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay; CMD of Goa Shipyard, Shekhar Mittal; West Bengal Police –Commissioner, Surajit Kar Purkayastha; CEO of Mapmygenome India,  Anuradha Acharya; and CEO of Capillary Software, Aneesh Reddy..

    Chief Guest Prof Man Mohan Sharma, FRS, renowned Chemical Scientist and Former Director of University Department of Chemical Technology felicitated the distinguished awardees and congratulated them for receiving this high honor.

    “Distinguished Alumnus of IIT KGP are our global brand ambassadors,” said Dr. Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, IIT KGP Director. “Their accomplishments across various domains have brought the Institute world-class recognition. IIT KGP is proud of all the awardees and also thankful to them for the spontaneous contribution to the county’s expansion and progress.’’

    “It is truly gratifying and humbling to receive this award from my alma mater,“ noted Basu. “ It goes a long way to reinforce my mission to continually find scalable technology solutions to help disadvantaged people and those in need. ”
