ANUDIP COLLABORATES WITH ACCENTURE TO STRENGTHEN RURAL MEDICAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN WEST BENGAL

At Anudip, we work in the space of economic inclusion. However, moved by the unprecedented national health crisis during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to pitch in to address an urgent requirement brought to the fore by the pandemic –the need to plug medical infrastructure gaps, especially in remote locations in India. In response, we set up a COVID-19 task force to augment medical infrastructure in hospitals and healthcare facilities that support vulnerable population segments in remote and non-urban locations in West Bengal. We also teamed up with Accenture, our long-term partner for digital skilling initiatives, to bring to life our efforts to strengthen rural medical infrastructure.

Today, we are proud to announce that together with Accenture, we have expanded the capacity and augmented the medical infrastructure at 25 rural and semi-urban government hospitals and COVID-19 care facilities in five districts in West Bengal – North 24 Paraganas, South 24 Paraganas, Alipurduar, Murshidabad and Howrah. This enhanced hospital infrastructure will benefit over 20 lakh people living in these districts. Accenture provided financial support for the project and together, we have equipped these healthcare facilities with ambulances and medical equipment including BiPAP machines, ICU ventilators, hospital fowler beds, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), cardiac monitors, oxygen cylinders, syringe pumps, defibrillators, X-ray machines, nebulization kits and infusion pumps.

These are locations where patients currently travel long distances for treatment due to lack of local medical infrastructure, thereby increasing not only their risk of exposure but also delaying treatment. This intervention will not just help tide over the COVID-19 crisis but will also help build the local administration with assets to scale up healthcare services for the long-term.

The pandemic is far from over and there is much more that needs to be done. Even as we continue on our journey, heartfelt thanks to Team Accenture for the incredible support to Anudip for making a difference on-ground.
