Mumbai’s Varun Patkar dreamt of enrolling at one India’s most prestigious colleges when he finished school. A bright student since school, little did he know that the key to India’s premier college meant an investment, “I could never afford.”

Like thousand other Indian students from low-income family groups, Varun was bound to seek admission in one of the local colleges. “Missing out on a premier college despite good scores – was witnessing my first dream shattered,” marks the 21 year-old who was on his way to get another reality check! “While Maharashtra had a much lower unemployment rate than the national average, getting a job offer was harder than ever for freshers”, claimed the aspirant who geared up for job-interviews post his graduation.

“I kept on appearing for interviews and kept on facing rejections” notes Varun who kept wondering on the plight of deserving bright students like him “left behind owing to lack of opportunities, resources and proper direction.” Taking up the underpaid job that he finally got “could have removed the tag of unemployment but I was not ready to do that” Varun promised himself. “The stress that comes with not having a job is unbearable being a graduate” he notes. On recommendation of a peer, he decided to invest his three months on “being trained on Java Web technology, HTML & CSS, JQuery New, Bootstrap & Web Hosting, and other new-age skills at ANUDIP”

The grievance of a bright school pass-out missing out a premier college seat due to lack of finances – “is still with me” iterates Varun ensuring that “being rejected at job-interviews due to lack of relevant skills should not be with me.”

Varun Patkar is today a Software Developer at Maq Software. “Drawing a salary of 8.4 Lakhs per year is what I deserve” not regretting his decision to “turn down the underpaid job offer I got before my ANUDIP training.”
