Rupsha Telecom & Studio - DREAM Entrepreneurship Unit

Hasnabad is a small community in the Eastern part of West Bengal directly across the Icchamati River from Bangladesh. It is one of the 17 locations where Anudip Foundation operates a Market Aligned Skills Training center. MAST graduates Md. Ali Gazi and Sarifa Khatun (husband and wife) found very little opportunity for employment in Hasnabad, but had a strong desire to remain in the village near their families. Md. Ali and Sarifa have three children and were desperately looking for a stable source of income to support their family. After graduating from Anudip’s MAST program armed with new IT and soft skills, they expressed interest in starting their own family business venture. Anudip advised the couple on a business strategy and financing plan as well as helping to identify a location for the business. Anudip also loaned the entrepreneurs one computer, one digital camera and one photo printer. On the 22nd of September, 2010 in a small market place near Hasnabad Md. Ali and Sarifa officially opened the doors of the Rupsha Telecom Studio. They provide digital photography services, software installation, and cell phone repairing. Within a month of operating they also expanded into electricity and telephone bill deposit services. Md. Ali and Sarifa are now generating a stable monthly income and are looking forward to a bright future for their family.
