The second Anudip LINKAGE Center was inaugurated on
July 25th, 2006, at the premises of our NGO partner,
Aikatan Sangha, in idyllic Dara village near Joynagar in the
central Sundarbans.
Over 150 members of Aikatan from surrounding villages
attended the event together with its governing body and
guests from the region. Anjana Das, President of the
Joynagar II Panchayat Committee, presided over the
session.
Several speakers affirmed the need for education and
computer capabilties required to overcome the level of
poverty in the region and move it into mainstream of
IT-related growth in India.
The ceremonial signing of the operational agreement by
Dipak Basu, President of Anudip, and Dinesh Das,
Secretary of Aikatan, was followed by explanation of the
Aikatan/Anudip venture by Alakanada Rao, head of training
content development at Anudip.
Classes at Aikatan begin on August 21st.
